Dear Parents,
I strongly believe that my life as a mainstream individual would not have been possible without the help of SAHAS. I have a severe-to-profound hearing of 85 dB in both ears from birth, but I can talk fluently in three languages – English, Hindi and Bengali. My parents underwent training at SAHAS when I was three years old and taught me to speak. I enrolled in a mainstream school and passed my boards with 80%. I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur. Currently I am working as Head of Business Development Operations at a tech company Toolsvilla in Durgapur.
My proudest moment was when I was awarded a full scholarship by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Government of India) to pursue my four-year B.Tech degree course at NIT Durgapur. I believe that with early intervention everything is possible for deaf children. I wish that more awareness is created in the society so that other deaf children can also lead regular lives and not become deaf and mute.
